Return To Time Tested Traditional Methods To Build Natural Strength, Cause Less Harm To Nature & Save Money

This is not the kind of yoga towel that everyone else is selling and for a good reasons.

What I'm about to share with you is going to save you money, show you how to build natural strength & cause less harm to nature.

The Yoga Rug is the original yoga towel.  It is what the teachers from India who taught yoga to the West used before businessmen without a yoga education invented microfiber yoga towels.

And as you'll see when new inventions have not stood the test of time unforeseen hidden costs start to reveal themselves. Both for the practitioner and for the planet.

1. Why Extra Grip = Extra Weak

In modern yoga we see the trend towards making things easier which includes using props like 'extra grip" and "non slip" yoga surfaces. While this will make your practice less difficult it will not help you build strength.

Flexibility plus strength is needed to work our way through the foundational postures up to the more difficult ones. Relying on your mat to do the work your body should be doing is not going to achieve this. Each person needs to be assessed individually by their teacher. To learn more on how to adjust the surface level of your mat with a Mysore yoga towel read this blog post

2. Microfibers Are Polluting Our Oceans & Rivers

Google Organic Yoga Towels and you won't find many options other than Ekaminhale. The reason is that all the yoga towels are made from Microfibers. Watch the video above to see why that is a problem. One of the ways the fibers get released is by washing and with sweaty yoga practices we wash our towels, shorts and pants often. Who knew this was going to be an issue? It seemed like a good idea in the beginning. Microfiber towels are lighter, cheaper and more profitable. The test of time revealed the results and it's a fail. The benefits do not outweigh the enviromental costs.

 3. Buy Less. Practice More

Organic Yoga Towels

Seems like strange advice from an online shop. The reason I say this is because we are a shop second and yoga practitioner's first. I've been practicing Ashtanga Yoga for 13 years. I've been using a yoga rug for a large majority of that time. I've made multiple trips to India to study at KPJAYI and visit the rug weavers. I'm not telling you all this to boast but so you know that yoga has been a part of my life long before I set up Ekaminhale. I don't like shopping but there is a certain amount of tools you need for your practice. My goal is to supply those tools so that they last and are of the highest quality possible. I sell expensive higher quality products made by craftsmen built to last. You can save time & money shopping once then focus on practicing. It's part of a new paradigm called Slow Fashion. I teach about it in the email series Slow Fashion
